Goals

Image
Hey Everyone, I hope everyone had a good week and is enjoying their winter. I am still here in Piquete Cue and things are going very well. We have a large pool of investigators and we have more baptisms planned for this change. This week wasnt too exciting but everyday I feel like I am becoming a better missionary and understand more what my calling entails. I obviously dont know everything, I am far from it. But each day I try to improve something small so that hopefully by the time I am done here I have improved a lot. Little by little goals can be accomplished. You cant look too far ahead or you will never feel like you ccan be successful. Love, Elder Seibert The kid in this picture is named Sebastian. He became an Uncle 2 weeks ago and is kissing his great grandma who subsequently became a great great grandma this week. She was also the first member baptized in Piquete Cue.

Changes

Hey Everyone, I dont have a lot of time. This week was good. We had changes but I will be staying with my companion in Piquete Cue for another 6 weeks so nothing new for me. This coming weekend we have a baptism for Jorge, the one that fell through a few weeks ago. He passed his interview and we have plans for this coming Saturday. It is very exciting to watch people progress and learn about the Gospel and see their desire to be baptized. I am so grateful everyday for teh chance I have to help others learn and recognize the good things of this life. Love, Elder Seibert

No Sé Como Los Misioneros Siempre Tienen Algo Para Escribir Aquí

Hey Everyone, This week was pretty good. The truth is I dont remeber a lot of what happened. Everyday feels so full when you are proselyting but at the same time sometimes it feels like not much happened. The best news of the week is our investigator, Joana, has really surprised us with her progress. She is 14 and  has several family members that are members of the church, but many of them are inactive and none of them are in her immediate family.  Anyway, she has been reading way ahead in the lessons and even started to read the Book of Mormon after the first lesson before we even gave her an assigment to read. She showed us her book and has it all highlighted with the parts she likes and is already halfway through 2 Nephi. Needless to say Elder Muñoz and I were pretty happy about that. It is so nice to find people who really are ready to recieve the gospel and want to progress as fast as possible. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well, have a good week! Love, E...

PMP

Hey Everyone! Well the bad news is that this week our baptims fell through. The good news is that we rescheduled for the last weekend of this month and my companion and I both feel like it was the right thing to do in this case. Other than that, the teaching has continued on as normal. We have been finding some great people and in the next change in Piquete Cue we should see 3 baptisms almost for sure. This week in Priesthood during our lesson the teacher told a story which is a little long, but the moral was simple "If you want to be happy, be happy. Its that easy" I have thought about that a lot this week, and I have thought a lot about happiness and joy on the mission. What really brings people happiness and joy? Lately during lessons I have been focusing more on how when we live the teachings of Jesus Christ, we will find joy. The Commandments dont exist to limit our happiness. They exist becasue God knows that when we follow them we will have the most possible jo...

6 Months?

Image
Hey Everyone, Well the news this week is that on the 25th I oficially completed 6 months of being a missionary! The time has really flown by and I feel like I have some much more to learn still. But I am loving Paraguay more and more each day. This week was kind of strange becasue we had to travel to asuncion 2x due to Elder Muñoz' ear infection and a messed up tendon in his foot. We were able to get some work done though. And if eerything goes to plan we will have a baptism this Saturday for our friend Jorge. woohoo! He is 21 and super nice, very quiet but has a sincere desire to be baptized and eve told us he wants to go on a mission. I am excited to see him continue to progress. Love, Elder Seibert

Piquete Cue

Image
Hey Everyone, Well I am now in a little town called Piquete Cue (peek-EH-tay kway) with Elder Muñoz from Chile. It is pretty close to my first area, but is quite a bit different in ambiance. It is right on the river and everyone here fishes, some recreationally and others have some pretty good sized boats. It is super cool, it´s like a Paraguayan version of tiny California beach town. I am not really sure how else to describe it. It definitely isnt like anything you would see in the states, but the feeling you get from the people and the way the houses are built it is just a little different. The good news is that this week we have been very busy. There are a lot of investigators and we should be having a baptism this coming Saturday and the Saturday after that. We have a lot of work to do, but we are managing it well. I love being near the water and enjoying all the new places. Love, Elder Seibert

Change is a Coming

Hey Everyone, I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. This week was not too exciting, unfortunately we did not see a lot of success and we had to drop a few investigators for various reasons. One of which is that Mercedes, the girl we were teaching is moving to live with her grandparents in Concepcion. Hopefully the missionaries there will get her reference. The big news from this week is that I will be changing areas tomorrow. Late last night I got the news that I will be leaving Salado. It is such a bitterseweet experience. There are so many good people in Salado that made me feel at home when I got to my mission. I will definitely miss this area and I will never forget it as it is where I was "born" on the mission (sorry I hate the mission slang, but its easier to use). I am very excited for a new area and new opportunities to teach and meet different people in another part of Paraguay. Hopefully we see a lot of success wherever I am headed. Love, Elder S...

Feliz Año Nuevo!

Hey All, I hope everyone had a good New Year and enjoyed the festivites. I spent New Years Eve eating a ton of food and visiting with a few investigators and members. This past week was very good, we have continued to have more success in the area and have found several people who are progressing and learning more each day. This week we have been working a lot with a girl named Mercedes who is 16 or 17. She lives with her aunt and I am not really sure what her realtionship is with her parents but she definitely has had a hard life growing up. She was a reference that we got from a bus driver here in Salado. When we got on he told us he knew someone we needed to talk to and gave us the cell phone number of Mercedes' aunt. We called and her Aunt told us that if we are essentially her last option. She said if the Mormons cant change Mercedes' attitude and behavior no one can and therefore she will be sent off to boarding school (or the Paraguayan equivalent I am not sure h...
