Feliz Año Nuevo!

Hey All,

I hope everyone had a good New Year and enjoyed the festivites. I spent New Years Eve eating a ton of food and visiting with a few investigators and members. This past week was very good, we have continued to have more success in the area and have found several people who are progressing and learning more each day.

This week we have been working a lot with a girl named Mercedes who is 16 or 17. She lives with her aunt and I am not really sure what her realtionship is with her parents but she definitely has had a hard life growing up. She was a reference that we got from a bus driver here in Salado. When we got on he told us he knew someone we needed to talk to and gave us the cell phone number of Mercedes' aunt. We called and her Aunt told us that if we are essentially her last option. She said if the Mormons cant change Mercedes' attitude and behavior no one can and therefore she will be sent off to boarding school (or the Paraguayan equivalent I am not sure how it works here). Well, not exactly how we would like to start off teaching someone but Mercedes has actually shown a real interest in the church. At first she was reluctant to do anything but now she is praying everyday and reading the Book of Mormon very regularly. It is amazing to see how the lord blesses us with people in the mission.

Other than that, we had a couple funny things happen this week. First I was sitting on a bus this week when I on the side of the road I watched a naked 4 year old kid run up to what would be the sidewalk if Paraguay had sidewalks and throw a rock at the bus. I say this because when it happened I didnt even think it was weird, which means that I have probably been here too long already.

Also this week at an investigators house when we showed up they had caught a cicaida (yes the big nasty bugs) and had tied a string around its body and were holding onto the string waatching it fly around in circles, pretty funny to watch. Gotta love these people!

I love being a missionary and I love my family.
