On the Back End of My Time in Mexico City

Hey Everyone, Well fortunately things have been going pretty well here in the CCM. This week went by super fast and I am happy to say that I am still loving it here. It´s pretty crazy to think that I am in the middle of Mexico City right now because the campus we have is huge and very well taken care of. It really reminds me of Napa High campus in a lot of ways except this place is a lot more fun. This week we had two surprise devotionals that were broadcasted in from the Provo Missionary Traingin Center, one from Elder M. Russel Ballard on Sunday and then Tuesday we heard from Elder Neil L. Anderson (for those that don´t know they are some very important Church leaders and I would recommend looking them up). Elder Ballard talked about focusing on the work and not getting distracted by more worldly things and Elder Anderson talked about the importance of prayer in our work. They were both very inspiring. Finally, my Spanish is coming along very well and I am definitely impr...

Time Is Starting to Speed Up

Hey Everyone, First of all, thank you so much for all of the emails this week, I don't have time to respond to them all but I did read them! Anyway, everything here at the CCM is still going great. I have to say, the first week I was here, it felt like an eternity even though I adjusted easily, it was just a big change. Now however, time is moving again. On Monday I will be halfway done with my time here in Mexico and then I'll be on my way to Paraguay. A lot happened this week too. Due to some unexpected District changes that kind of rippled through the CCM, I am now in a trio. Elder Hansen is still my companion, but now Elder Wanczyk is with us too. As a result we had to move as well. We were staing in the dorms that are here, but we moved to a Casa. There are a bunch of houses on campus here and we had to find time in our busy schedule to move everything all across campus between classes and mealtimes. The one perk that came out of it though is that we now live with Eld...

How's It Going?

Hey Mom, I have been doing really well here. THe bus ride was insane, it is so crowded in this city and roads were getting blocked off and masses of people were just driving over the medians. It was pretty cool though. The CCM president's wife takes most of the pictures but I am not sure who did it at the airport. I see Jospeh every day or every other day about. We don't talk too much but it's nice to have a familiar face. My companion, Elder Hansen, is from Glendora California and played water polo and was on a bad team just like me. We actually have a ton in common and he reminds me a lot of Nathan Scott. And as far the districct goes it is about half going to my mission, then we have 2 guys going to McAllen Texas, a guy going to Peru, and the 2 Hermanas are going to Peru as well. The pizza was really good, and it is actually on Tuesday nights so that is the first meal the elders get when they arrive which is nice. On Sunday we have a more relaxeed schedule where we c...

First Week In The CCM (The Mexico Missionary Training Center)

Image
Hey Everyone, So for those of you who don't know, I am spending the first 6 weeks of my mission in Mexico City at the CCM which is the Spanish abbreviation for Missionary Training Center. I love it here, but I wouldn't think that I would. The food is'nt great most of the time, each day I am in class or studing language and church doctrine for about 14 hours and at night I have to fall asleep with the dogfights I can hear outside, street races and what I can only hope are fireworks going off all the time follwed by police sirens. But I really do like it down here. My companion is Elder Hansen, he is from Gelndora California and played Water Polo like me, and from what it sounds like his team was just as bad as mine. My district (the group of elders and Hermanas that I am with for classes) is really great we all get along super well. My comanion and I also probably know the most Spanish out of anyone in our district which is nice becasue we can help everyone, and we d...

Hey family! I made it to the CCM safely. My P-Day is on Thursdays but I will not have it this Thursday, it will start next week. Everything is going well! Love, Elder Seibert
